Farm Tours 2016 — Ideal for Young School Classes
(or other groups that would like to visit the farm)
Westham Island Herb Farm offers a great educational tour for school classes and other groups from May 7 to October 31 . The tour takes your group through some of our 160 acre farm to learn a little about farming. It includes a visit to our 100 year-old barn that continues to store our hay, straw and cows with their calves.
In the spring (May-June) we will look at our goats, learn about the chickens and see what the donkeys are up to after the winter. We will show you how to prepare our fields and the different kind of seeds needed to grow all the vegetables we like. Each child will be able to take home a small container with a planted seed to watch it grow at home.
In the fall (Sep-Oct), we will visit all the animals that live in our barns and outside paddocks. We'll find out about the vegetables we are harvesting and finish with a visit to the pumpkin patch.
Cost: $7 per child includes one parent and one small container with a seed (spring) or a small pumpkin (fall). Additional parents or siblings are welcome, cost is $7 each, free for under 2 year olds.
Bring proper footwear (boots are best in the muddy field) and appropriate clothing - kids will likely get dirty.
